With regret it has been decided to discontinue this competition, which was scheduled for Sunday 21st February. In the past 2 years the attendance has been 20 players and this event has not seen the growth or interest that our other events have. Development is not being shelved but we are merely looking to reach a wider audience and it is hoped this competition will be replaced by a "Grassroots" style event. The format of the event is still to be decided but it is expected that the top players in town would not be able to enter, and the hope is this would encourage a larger entry from the younger and grassroots type of player. In addition, the town has just entered it's first ever B1 team in a major SPA event so the interest in playing in these events is growing and it is also hoped the B1 (possibly even a B2 team in future) would provide additional development for upcoming players. In the meantime the ADPL would encourage those younger players to continue their development by playing in the available singles and doubles events left in the season, particularly the Arbroath Open, Porty Singles etc. | |||
