Following a marathon SPA AGM on Sunday, and a record entry of over 70 teams from all over Scotland, the following was agreed for the B event, which will take place over the weekend of 12th to 14th February at Pettycur Bay, Burntisland. The squad has now been selected as follows :- Steve Webster (Non Playing Captain) Walter Preston Steve Hardwick Euan Sharpe Jim Falconer Ally Robertson Jimmy Balfour Scott MacEwan Ian Hay Sean Hardwick Craig Brown Scott Ord This squad could be subject to further additions depending on availability of extra caravans. As always the accommodation is caravans and the cost per player is £36. Because the ADPL have paid these fees out already there is going to be a strict deadline for the players to pay their fees by Sunday 31st January 2010. Players who haven’t paid by the deadline will be replaced within the squads by nominated reserves. As we can see by the record entry of 70 teams for the A and B events combined, there is a lot of interest in team pool within Scotland and the ADPL wish to play their part in this. This is the first time we have provided 3 teams and it was only recently we only had a single A team entered. There are no restrictions on the amount of teams we can enter but to enter more, we do need to increase the player base. Finally, a huge thanks to all players who registered an interest but were not ultimately selected. Some players can consider themselves unlucky not to be going but should not take non-selection personally as there was a view with the Committee to take more new players and “blood” them so as to increase the player base for next year. | |||
